About Us

Lakeside Community Church Yungaburra is not a building.  Our church is a group of Christian believers who are bonded together through the belief that Jesus Christ is God’s son.  We believe that in dying, he took on our sin to make things right between God and us.  One of the main differences between Christianity and other religions is that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  He is as alive and real today as he was 2000 years ago, having a positive impact on the lives of those who love him and accept him.

It is important to note that we are certainly not perfect, but as a group of believers, seek to support each other, with God’s help through the Holy Spirit.

Jeff Lawson is the pastor of the church.  To learn more about Jeff and where he is coming from, please select below.

About us

Our Baptist Church Heritage

Lakeside Community Church is part of the Queensland Baptist family of churches.  Many of the congregation which are now meeting in Yungaburra, previously met at the Atherton Tablelands Baptist Church building.  That church has seen significant growth in the past couple of years and a decision was made to expand out to other communities, Yungaburra being the first.

Baptist churches are members of a family of churches, each one independent but adhering to the same beliefs.  Importantly, we hold to believers being baptised and regularly observing communion, both important teachings in God’s word, the Bible.

One interesting point with Baptist Churches is that if a cross is displayed , it is always an empty cross, why?  The reason is simple, the Scriptures teach us that  Jesus Christ died on a cross.  He was buried and rose again to life on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4).  He did this voluntarily, dying for and taking on the sins of you and me.  Jesus is is alive, he is no longer on the Cross!  Scripture also teaches no person is without some type of doing wrong (called sin).  God cannot stand or be in the presence of sin.  All sin, not matter how small, or how great, can be forgiven.  Some of the important people taught about in the bible, committed terrible sins, even murder, and were forgiven by God.  If we put our faith in Jesus, and accept him as Lord of our life, God will forgive us, no matter what we have done.  No sin is too big for God to forgive.  God can save us from being rejected by him and he gives us the opportunity to be with him for all time, even though we may physically die.  We believe that even though the cross is a wonderful symbol of Christianity, it is an empty cross thanks to the life and work of Jesus Christ.

If you want to know more about what the Bible teaches us, please call Pastor Jeff today!
